SRAM Guide RSC (B1) Disc Brake

  • Lever: aluminum
  • Lever Adjustability: reach (tool-free)
  • Caliper: 4-piston (dual diameter)
  • Caliper Adjustability: adjustable banjo, contact point
  • Mount Type: ambidextrous

Sitting with cool confidence and authority atop SRAM’s Guide line, the Guide RSC (B1) Disc Brake represents the best of the Guide hydraulic disc family, offering Lever reach adjustment, SRAM’s new SwingLink lever design, and Contact point adjustment capability — abbreviated to create to the RSC distinction. The Guide RSC’s SwingLink levers are one of the biggest features setting it apart from its more straightforward siblings. SRAM designed them to react faster and with less force than earlier brakes, reducing the size of the lever “deadspot” with a new cam design. You’ll feel more in-control as you whip around a corner and squeeze the levers to stay in control over a burly rock garden, and as soon as you do engage the levers, an efficient cup-seal timing port closes the port to pressurize the system and force the pads to the rotor for perfect, immediate modulation. SRAM also made the contact point easy to access, just behind the lever attachment to the master cylinder, so you can dial in the right feel for the brakes without having to perform complex mechanics. SRAM pairs the Guide RSC with its powerful 4-piston, dual 14- and 16mm diameter caliper, built with its Bleeding Edge technology to ensure fluid passes easily through it for a more efficient bleeding process. Once you’re done, a specifically-adapted S4 bleed adapter sits in the bleed port and guards the system against air contamination and fluid loss. The caliper comes with SRAM’s steel-backed organic pads, whose forged aluminum construction promises long-term durability, with easy pad removable via a top-loading design. Please note that compatible Centerline rotors are sold separately, with the Guide RSC (B1) Disc Brake coming as a Front/left or Rear/right lever and caliper configuration. Additionally, the lever assembly is Matchmaker-compatible, which allows you to run your various controls cleanly from a single lever clamp.

Shimano ST-R785 Di2 Hydraulic STI Lever & Disc Brake Caliper Set

  • Lever: ST-R785 Di2 hydraulic STI
  • Actuation: hydraulic
  • Caliper: BR-R785 hydraulic disc brake
  • Mount Type: post
  • Fluid: mineral oil

The R785 Di2 Hydraulic STI Lever and Disc Brake Caliper Set marks Shimano’s hydraulic disc brake debut, and because the UCI has not yet approved disc brakes at the pro-level (for which its flagship Dura-Ace groupset is intended), the R785 is atop the pack. The R785s feature Shimano’s IceTech technology, which results in braking power that is consistent no matter what the conditions. By placing cooling fins in the braking pads, Shimano has found a way to dissipate heat more effectively, allowing the brakes to grab faster and the pads to last longer. In addition, Shimano’s disc break system was designed to work with Di2 electronic shifting. In order to hold the fluid reservoir for mineral oil, the front profile of the R785s is higher than previous Ultegra profiles. The R785s also feature reach and stroke adjustments to ensure that your hand position is ideal. Lastly, keep in mind that Shimano’s ST-R785 Di2 Hydraulic STI Lever and Disc Brake Caliper Set does not include the rotors.

SHIMANO Dura-Ace BR-9000 Brakes

  • 10% more power than BR-7900

  • Also available in direct mount version (BR-9010) for aero applications

Long, fast descents demand confidence. Dura-Ace brakes deliver, with a new symmetrical dual pivot design and twin bearings reducing pivot friction and improving efficiency and controllability. Along with new low-friction BC-9000 cables, Dura-Ace brakes give smooth, light operation with excellent modulation. Available with conventional mount or direct mount for aero road bikes (BR-9010).

Shimano Di2 Dura-Ace ST-9070 Shift Lever Set

  • Type: electronic
  • Compatible Components: Shimano Dura-Ace 9070 and 7970
  • Claimed Weight: 237 g
  • Recommended Use: road racing and cyclocross

Dura-Ace Di2 has become renowned as “the” electronic shifting system to trust. And while it neared perfection, leave it to Shimano to improve upon it even more with the advent of the Dura-Ace Di2 9070 11-Speed STI Shifters. First and foremost, you’ll notice that the new Di2 features 11 speeds, which is quickly becoming the number to hit. But beyond that, Shimano looked at the aesthetics and ergonomics of the levers to create touch points that enhance your riding experience. The shape of the levers has been given even more of an outward curve while also growing in length. This allows for a better interaction with the levers, whether you’re on the hoods or in the drops. Speaking of the hoods, they are made from a dual-compound rubber composite with a perforated design, but are now smaller and slimmer in shape. Conversely, the shift paddles have been widened for a better interface in the heat of the moment. Shimano still adds in 10mm of reach adjustment. Beyond the aesthetics is the shifting performance. It is here that Shimano’s Rider-Tuned philosophy takes shape. For example, with the Di2 9070, you’re able to select one of five different rear derailleur shifting speeds. More impressive is that the 9070 is now capable of performing shifts up to 28 teeth on the cassette. To enhance shifting, a more minimal single-wire E-Tube connection is used. This also makes for more options for the inclusion of satellite shifting systems.
