Because the latest and greatest mtb frames are embracing the BB30 bottom bracket shell, we offer the SRAM XX 2×10 crank (yes, XX and 2×10 next to each other is redundant) with a 30mm thru-axle/bottom bracket spindle in addition to the XX crank with a more traditional thru-axle designed for the GXP bottom bracket. This XX crank with the 30mm pipe will work with either SRAM’s BB30 bottom bracket or SRAM’s PressFit 30 bottom bracket. This is the same crankset, with a 49.5mm chainline as the standard, just with a 164mm Q-factor and 30mm diameter spindle. We could go on and on about the benefits of BB30, but if you don’t have a frame with the BB30 shell, you have no need for it. Stiffer, lighter, sealed better. The crankarms are foam core inside an aluminum exoskeleton inside a carbon shell. There are two different chain ring combinations, all with a 120mm outside bolt circle diameter and 80mm inside bolt circle diameter.39/26 or 42/28 — they each have a 3:2 ratio. The big ring bolts thread through the arm into the chain ring. The small ring bolts into the spider. The rings are cut from 6mm wide 7075-T6 aluminum. Stiffer than other rings, yet still really light. SRAM developed a new ramp/pin/cutout pattern for faster, more confident shifting under full power. It’s called X-Glide and doubles the number of ideal shift points during a pedal revolution. SRAM recommends their 10-speed road chains, 1090 and 1090R to mate this crank to their XX cassettes. The crank comes with either 170 or 175mm crankarms. The color of the crankarms is Black, the chain rings are Tungsten Grey and Silver. Shimano Ultegra 6800 Mid-Compact Crank 175 mm (36/52) Presenting Shimano’s new Ultegra 6800 group set. The Ultegra series is performance proven mechanical group as it is a direct trickle down from Shimano’s Dura Ace group. Following the Dura Ace’s move to 11 speed, Shimano has introduced 11 speed to the Ultegra. This performance group set now features an 11-speed cassette with more gearing options. Shimano also claims the new shifter’s ergonomic design greatly resembles those of the new Dura-Ace. According to Shimano, a complete group weighs 2,309 grams, 35 grams less than the previous generation.

With older Dura-Ace chains, we thought that Shimano had reached the limit of refinement for the lowly bicycle chain. After all, what more is there to accomplish than to ensure that it shifts crisply and runs quietly? To our surprise, this Shimano Dura-Ace CN-7901 Chain is better. This improvement comes in a number of ways.First of all, the 7901 Chain is over 11g lighter than its predecessor. This is thanks to perforated inner and outer plates. Both chains share the same hollow pins, and it uses the same tried-and-true connector pin that Shimano has relied on for so long. The second improvement is a slight tweak to the shaping of the individual inner and outer plates. Shimano was the first company to build an asymmetrical chain. The point of it all was to decrease the workload to get the chain to climb to the next biggest cog in the back or bigger chainring in the front. Their efforts also produced a chain that does this faster. So lighter and faster shifting, with less potential for chainsuck — we like that.With the asymmetrical chain design, it is of utmost importance to install the chain as instructed. This way, the beveling and overall shape of each inner and outer link can perform as designed. These new plate shapes mesh together with the Dura-Ace chainrings and cassette with unprecedented precision — reducing mechanical drag (which, behind aero drag, is the greatest enemy to your efficiency.) The net effect is smoother and quieter shifting, whether the shift is on a casual endurance ride in December, or in a 1200 watt herky-jerky maelstrom coming out of the final corner of a crit.The Shimano Dura-Ace CN-7901 Chain is compatible with the Shimano Dura-Ace FC-7900 and FC-7950 cranksets and Shimano Dura-Ace FD-7900 front derailleur. According to Shimano it is not compatible with the Dura-Ace 7800 series crankset and front derailleur.
