Enduro lines keep getting rowdier and rowdier, so you need a fork that can stay ahead of the ever-gnarlier curve. Enter the 2017 RockShox Lyrik RCT3 Solo Air 180 Boost 27. 5in Fork. The Lyrik is basically a beefed-up version of the legendary Pike and, with 180mm of trail-crushing travel, you can bet your boots it’s designed to go hard and fast. RockShox built up the crown, stanchions, and legs of the Lyrik so it’s significantly burlier than its predecessors, which means you can point it straight down things that seem pretty stupid and come out the other side unscathed. Being big and strong, the Lyrik prefers straight-line speed to ticky-tacky line choosing, but it can certainly handle precise moves when they’re necessary. The Solo Air spring and SKF cartridge seal keep travel super smooth and resist brake dive better than the Pike, and the Solo Air design shaves some weight from the Dual Air, though it does ditch a bit of adjustability. The fork still includes an RCT3 Charger damper, which can be adjusted for climbing, descending, or a bit of both, and RockShox’ Rapid Recovery system, which keeps you high in the travel even when you’re mobbing down wash-boardy singletrack.
